You bet!!!
"These contraptions were originally made in Sweden and were indeed, sold in the USA. As late as 1986-87, REH and Parma were still selling RTR cars with stock low-power Mura C cans using these 2-piece chassis. While they were virtually unbreakable, they were handling poorly and were the noisiest slot cars ever heard since I built a car from balsa wood in the 1960's.
Apparently their nylon chassis synchronized its frequency to that of their motor, amplifying the racket to that of a playing card attached to a bicycle frame and acting on the wheel spokes. If you can picture it. Another problem was that of keeping a gear mesh from self-destruction as the motor kept moving in the plastic chassis, and it was indeed difficult to solder it in place...
I know that Maury Wynn (of Twinnk-K fame) had something to do with it. We saw them first in 1972 and they were laughed out of our local raceways after we tested them. Now they make nice vintage cars as long as one keeps a leisurely pace, as they were notorious launchers on the old King tracks bumpy straights.
A half-arse Div III chassis with urethane tires would have these plastic piles for breakfast... "
